Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando pairs centuries of history with genuinely top-notch service. My dinner here was a beautiful experience from the first sip to the last bite.
What I loved
- A memorable dinner: shrimp ceviche served in a coconut, Caribbean grouper filet, and dulce de leche creme caramel finished with a chocolate treble clef and golden caramel glaze
- Fresh mango juice as an aperitif, and a lovely red wine with dinner
- The hotel's two signature cocktails: the Nicolas de Ovando (Brugal rum, orange juice, lemon, and bitters) and the Maria Toledo (silver tequila, blue curacao, and soda)
- Service that was attentive and polished all evening
- During our visit, local brand Exxencial created custom perfumes and car diffusers, a beautiful way to bottle the scent of a destination and bring it home
