The Great Jamaica Comeback and Sandals' New Names

If Jamaica has been on your mind lately, you are not alone. It is one of those places that stays with you long after you come home: warm water, great music, incredible food, and that feeling that time slows down just enough for you to enjoy it.

Right now, Jamaica is having a moment. Sandals is calling it the Great Jamaica Comeback, and it comes with fresh spaces, new flavors, and new resort names that make the attributes of each resort easier to understand at a glance. Let's bring your vacation vision to light and walk you through what changed, what stayed exactly the same, and which Jamaica resort might be your perfect match.

New names: same resorts, clearer destinations

Sandals and Beaches are renaming resorts across the Caribbean to put the destination front and center. The idea behind this is simple. When you're dreaming, comparing, and searching, you should be able to tell right away where a resort is located.

As Sandals shared in its announcement, these are the same beautiful properties and the same Caribbean hospitality, just a clearer way of identifying the resorts you love.

Here is your Jamaica cheat sheet, so an old name never throws you off:

  • Sandals Montego Bay is now Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay
  • Sandals Royal Caribbean is now Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay
  • Sandals South Coast is now Sandals Jamaica South Coast
  • Sandals Dunns River is now Sandals Jamaica Dunns River
  • Sandals Negril is now Sandals Jamaica Negril
  • Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is now Sandals Jamaica Ocho Rios
  • Sandals Royal Plantation is now Sandals Jamaica Royal Plantation
  • Beaches Negril is now Beaches Jamaica Negril

The Great Jamaica Comeback: three resorts to know first

Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay: where it all began, better than ever

This is the resort that started it all, and it is entering its next chapter in a big way. Think a redesigned pool, bold new flavors, and redefined experiences, all along Jamaica's largest secluded white-sand beach.

It is classic Montego Bay energy, refreshed: lively when you want it, easy when you do not, and close to the airport. This makes it a stress-free choice for a first Jamaica trip or a quick couples escape.

Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay: fresh spaces, same island energy

Formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean, this one has always had something special: that private offshore oasis feeling, where the ocean feels a little closer and the day feels a little more like your own.

Now it brings upgraded accommodations, new culinary experiences, and a fresh beachside scene to the heart of the resort. If you love being on the water, lingering over a long lunch, and ending the day somewhere beautiful without ever having to leave the resort, put this one high on your list.

Sandals Jamaica South Coast: fresh vibes, wild roots

Set between lush mountains and the serene sea, Sandals Jamaica South Coast is newly transformed with a refreshed waterfront pool oasis, new island flavors, and quiet corners made for slowing down.

This is the Jamaica I recommend when a couple tells me, "we just want to breathe." It is romantic, peaceful, and unhurried, with plenty of room to do absolutely nothing amidst a beautiful backdrop.

New names across other Sandals destinations

There are new names in the portfolio in other destinations as well. The resorts themselves have not changed, only the name has become more destination-forward. They are:

  • Sandals Royal Bahamian is now Sandals Bahamas Nassau
  • Sandals Grande Antigua is now Sandals Antigua
  • Sandals Royal Curaçao is now Sandals Curaçao
  • Sandals Grande St. Lucian is now Sandals St. Lucia Grand Bay
  • Sandals Regency La Toc is now Sandals St. Lucia La Toc
  • Sandals Halcyon Beach is now Sandals St. Lucia Halcyon Beach
  • Sandals Saint Vincent & the Grenadines is now Sandals St. Vincent
  • Beaches Turks & Caicos remains unchanged

What has not changed

All-inclusive at Sandals still means all in. Your stay includes specialty restaurants and premium liquors, PADI-certified scuba diving and water sports, championship golf and land sports, premium wines, roundtrip airport transfers, and all tips, taxes, and gratuities.

In other words, you can go on full vacation mode and not worry about any logistics. That is exactly how travel should feel.

Which Jamaica resort is right for you?

  • Want easy and iconic? Start with Montego Bay. It is close, classic, and full of life.
  • Want that private island feeling? Look at Caribbean Cay, with its offshore oasis and fresh beachside scene.
  • Want quiet, romantic, and restorative? South Coast is your slow-down-and-savor pick.
  • Want laid-back Negril sunsets or Ocho Rios adventure? Negril and Ocho Rios are still wonderful, just under clearer names.
  • Traveling as a family? Beaches Jamaica Negril keeps the family-friendly, everyone-together magic in one place.

And if you are not sure yet, that is exactly what we are here for. We don't just plan vacations, we are obsessed with them! Every Illumia advisor brings genuine passion to bringing your vacation vision to light, and that starts with listening to how you like to travel.
